AER v6: independent skills and recoverable installation

2 min read

Thirteen self-contained engineering skills, a compact contract, explicit client controls, and an installer that preserves ownership through changes and interruptions.

V6 separates the engineering guidance from its delivery. Each of the 13 skills works without the project kernel or another mandatory skill. The optional contract retains AE-01 through AE-26, assurance profiles, and the browser-conditional UI-01 clause; the standalone web-UI skill receives that same canonical clause.

Select the integration explicitly

A directory name does not select permissions. Portable copies use standard skill metadata. Codex copies add native invocation sidecars. Claude Code copies preserve manual invocation and bind both review skills to a Read, Grep, Glob reviewer. Custom paths can be installed safely, but their discovery requires the client's own configuration and inspection.

Ownership has a complete inventory

The three commands are install, check, and uninstall. Install also converges profile, skill, instruction-file, and destination changes. A ledger records the complete expected inventory and a pending transaction before payload mutation. Collisions and drift refuse; check never repairs; dry runs remain read-only. Consumer text outside managed blocks survives moves, recovery, and removal.

Recover an interrupted operation with the recorded request and creating package after inspecting any stale run lock. Keep modified content deliberately when uninstalling. V6 never adopts v5 ownership: inspect and remove v5 through the pinned 5.0.0 CLI first, preserving edits and checking remaining markers. The release installation guide gives the complete procedure.

What the checks establish

The release checks exercise the actual npm tarball in isolated consumers: preview, install, integrity, idempotence, representative moves, collision and drift refusal, interruption recovery, uninstall preservation, and the immutable v5 exit fixture. Frozen research bytes remain unchanged. Client protocol probes use deterministic loopback responses, so they can inspect instruction loading and native tool restrictions without a provider call or an efficacy study.

Format validity, installation, discovery, invocation controls, and model outcomes are separate claims. The dated capability matrix records tested clients and platforms. Plugin channels are deferred. No v6 result supports a claim of better model performance or lower cost.

A ten-minute delivery check

Use a throwaway repository, install the pinned CLI, preview explicit representations, and inspect the result. Check integrity, repeat the install, then preview removal. Keep the target disposable; this checks delivery rather than how well a model follows the guidance.

Type a command and press Enter. Try help, ls, open followed by a project name, why followed by a project name, inspect, trail, cat about, notes, contact, resume, coffee, whoami, or clear. Tab completes; the up and down arrows recall earlier commands. Escape closes the terminal.
